Meeting Objective: VLPNO Board Updates 

Date: Thursday January 13, 2022

Time: 4:00-6:00PM

Board Member Attendees: Kevin Comer, Kermit Ferrer, Patsy Marino, Gustav Swanson, Steve Orr, Brenda Matthews

  • Review / Approve Minutes from December Board Meeting (12/07/21)

  • Discuss Transition of Incoming/Outgoing Board Members: Board

  • 2021 Annual General Membership Meeting elected Board member Michael Marchi resigned in January 2022

  • 2021 Annual General Membership Meeting elected Board member Glenn Johnson resigned in January 2022

  • Treasury / Finance Report: KComer

    • 2021 Annual Budget

    • Kevin presented MW2022 budget

    • 4 new members at the new Krisel level

    • Sponsorship drive was very successful

  • Charitable Donations

    • Kevin: Suggestion to make more meaningful charitable donations, perhaps at each Social

    • Kermit: Consider looking at Steve Chase Awards

  • MW2022: KFerrer  

    • Budget:

      • Steve & Malcolm saved us $2000 for the after party

      • Photographer saved us another $2000

      • Extra cost for police traffic support offset savings from switch to One Las Palmas from Jewish Temple.

      • Kevin proposed 2 off-duty police officers to support traffic/parking control. Approved with unanimous vote.  

      • Evelyn recommends increasing ticket price (it was $80 in 2019 and $90 in 2021)

    • Sponsorships

      • Kevin reported that sponsorships were limited to 1 per level to increase the likelihood of getting sponsors at each level. This year’s sponsorship plan is baked in and required to start the program out. Next year it can be revised.

    • Set-Up follow-up MW2022 Meeting

  • One PS / District 3 Update: SOrr/GSwanson

    • Steve and Gustav summarized the recent meeting

    • Should move OnePS info under web site Events page

  • Neighborhood: GSwanson/BMathews

    • Preservation:  Historical, Visual & Recognition 

    • Discussion of SB9, SB10.

    • Kermit recommends we produce a document to review actual “requirements, limitations, approach” for a national historic designation.

  • Communication Updates: TBD

    • Contracted Services:  Webpage and Mail blasts: KFerrer

    • Identify Communications Owner and discuss role responsibilities

    • Membership and Email Addresses DB: KFerrer

    • New Social Media (FB/IG): KComer

  • Next Social Event planning: PMarino

    • Spring social idea: March xx, Women-centric event w/donation to the Women’s Shelter, Eleni Kounalakis to speak.

    • Kevin: event budget is $500 + any sponsorships acquired

  • Block Ambassador Next Steps: BMathews/KFerrer

    • Brenda/Kermit: need to get the word out at all gatherings: docent training, thank you party, socials, pet parade, etc.
