Vista Las Palmas Neighborhood Organization Board Meeting
August 10, 2022

Kevin Comer (KC), Kermit Ferrer (KF), Steve Orr (SO), Gustav Swanson (GS), Patsy Marino (PM), Joe Vassallo (JV)

  • 7th Board member recruitment – All

    • Board seats coming up for renewal? Steve Orr, Kermit Ferrer, Patsy Marino

    • PM will ty to recruit Christy McMillan

  • July Treasury Report – Kevin

    • KC summarized the financial report. We’re in good financial shape.

  • Fundraising/Donations -All

    • Still need to establish a Board member/owner who will administer this program

    • Desert AIDS Memorial - KC to ask Ellen for an update

    • Complete donations to

      • PS Animal Shelter $10k (structure in 2 $5K parts?)

      • LGBT Center $5k

    • Other opportunities/organizations were very briefly discussed

    • KF’s proposed Program Guidelines were approved by unanimous board vote

  • MW2023

    • TOUR IS ON

    • Begin separate MW Tour Coordination calls - additional committee members:  Rick Distel, Bonnie Ruttan?  Bruce Frasier?  Richard Nielsen?

    • Full force recruitment of homes 

      • Currently have 5 homes (one back-up=SO’s)

      • Need a minimum of 6 homes

    • Schedule:  Next milestones

      • June 30th:  Budget (On-hold 'til we secure all homes - Confirm Tour) (KC)

      • June 30th:  Sponsorship Program Approval - Begin recruitment (On-hold 'til we secure all homes - Confirm Tour) (Sponsorship Committee)

      • Aug 15th:  Submit Event Form to MW (KF)

      • Sept 17th:  Complete house curation with MW  (JV)

    • Budget (KC). MW budget was reviewed, resulting in increased amounts for docent training ($2500) and after party ($5000)

    • Reserve Check-In (KF). 

    • Sponsorship Program Update:  Begin list of potential sponsors (Sponsorship Committee)

    • Photography (Rick Distel)

  • Social:  September 15th VLP Social (PM)

    • Howard and Kevin (h3k) not likely as the venue

    • KF mentioned V Wine Lounge as back up option. KF will follow-up

    • Target timeslot for event 4:30-6:30

Other events discussed:

  • LGBTQ+ Center fund raiser event

  • Amy & Tim (on Monte Vista) event @ La Paloma in Nov?

  • Animal Shelter event w/holiday pet parade 12/10/22 (Combine event with Day of Service suggestion by PM). PM to reach out to Scott re: planning holiday event

  • One PS Highlights - Gustav/Steve – no meeting this month.

    • Email will be going out to neighbors

  • Communication - Website Updates & Newsletter – Gustav

  • Other Board Member Updates

    • KC asked about membership drive. He suggested we send out a mailer to all neighbors in Nov. PM/KC will work on it.

Parking Lot: 

  • VLPNO Classification:  New registration of Fictitious business:  VLPNO (?) schedule and make it a 501(c)(3)
