Raised in Santa Barbara, Howard learned the ins-and-outs of construction and detailed finish work while helping his father renovate and restore Victorian homes. During his time earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Urban and Regional planning at USC, Howard studied the architecture and historic preservation of Los Angeles.
He and his husband, Kevin, appreciate the clean lines of midcentury architecture which inspired the purchase of their current VLP home. They own H3K Design: a firm that re-imagines MCM houses and has a varied project portfolio. In 2017, they opened their mid-century inspired furniture store and turnkey design service, H3K Home, in downtown Palm Springs.
Howard is a former board member of the VLPNO executive committee. He is also a member of Palm Springs Preservation Foundation, PS Mod Com, PS Art Museum and the PS Chamber of Commerce.
